Resource Blog 3

I found this very cool website which includes an interactive periodic table.  When the user clicks on any of the elements a short video will appear that further describes the element and its characteristics.  This resource is great because it shows real life interactive examples of all the elements in action.  Teachers should check out this resource because it engages students and adds character to a topic that can often be tedious and boring.  A science teacher may also use this to find a video resource for an element that is being covered in class.  This is great because it also allows the teacher to pick and choose which elements to explore more in depth.  Overall, this is a great interactive resource that can help both teachers and students. 1. Hey Marin! Honestly this resource is so awesome! I copied the link to save to my bookmarks. This makes learning about the different elements super interactive for students! Having a more creative way for them to learn about the periodic table allows them to draw their own connections between the different patterns and structures of the table. I would definitely be more willing to learn the material using a fun resource like this than a plain textbook.

  2. Thanks for your thoughtful response Marin. Since we’ve being learning about the Periodic Table in our science class recently, I was especially drawn to your resource. I did enjoy that there was a video for each element. This aspect of having videos, pictures and texts is an important reading skill that students will need to know more and more these days. The only thing I didn’t love about this website is that it honestly might be too much information about each element. For example, in middle grades, I’m not sure how in-depth we need to go about every single element. If there were videos for each group or period that could me a little more broad and helpful. However, overall, I think this is a fun resource! Also I LOVE the picture at the end haha! 136
