Overall, I found the video very interesting and
insightful as to how to teach a Science class.
Ms. Maronpot seems like an excellent teacher and is obviously very
passionate and enthusiastic about her work and was eager to learn how to
improve. A common theme I saw throughout
the video is the importance of application questions and being able to apply
lessons to the real world for better engagement with students. This also appears to be a common theme throughout
my classes and seems to be an aspect of teaching that often gets neglected or
that teachers struggle with. I know this
is true through my experience as a student; I recall often wondering about the
relevance of subject material. Ms.
Maronpot did an excellent job of engaging students and asking a lot of
questions to provoke thinking. This is
very important for a science class since science is supposed to produce a lot
of questions and provoke thinking. However,
it seemed like many teachers Ms. Maronpot seemed to struggle with the
application side of teaching. This helps
me realize how challenging application in lessons can be especially since an
excellent teacher such as Ms. Maronpot seems to be struggling. As a future teacher this makes me realize the
importance of thinking about how to tie subjects and lessons to teaching. While I am still a student learning to be a
teacher I now realize the importance of being mindful and practicing this while
I still have a significant amount of outside help and guidance. Overall this video has further helped me
realize that even the best teachers never stop learning and finding ways to
improve to help their students.

Hey Marin! I started reading this and honestly thought it was my own because I had the exact same take away. Maybe it is because we focus so much on application questions in science, we were both drawn to picking that improvement out! Asking the right guiding questions as a teacher is so important to us and our students. It gives us a way to see where a student's confusion is while also allowing them to share their own thought process.
